My Story

In a nutshell....

In October of 2011, after a change in my diet, I noticed that when I ate or inhaled corn starch products, my face, tongue, and mouth would become numb for about an hour. Then I would feel very tired, heavy, and I would develop a headache.

My primary care doctor sent me to an allergist.

The Allergist tested me for allergies to 60 foods, including corn. All of the results were negative.
Therefore, he concluded that it was all in my head.

I passed a blind challenge to demonstrate that it was not all in my head.

My primary care doctor prescribed an Epi-pen and sent me to a new allergist.

Allergist #2 recommended an antianxiety medication.

I continued to do my own research and discovered that all of my reactions occurred not after eating or inhaling corn, per se, but after eating or inhaling anything with sulfites (processed corn, frozen vegetables, certain meats, starches, medications, oils, etc.).

I developed my own "sulfite lab test" to test my theory. It was positive.

But WHY was I reacting to sulfites?

(Causes of Sulfite Sensitivity)

Various doctors ruled out several possible causes until all that was left was sulfite oxidase deficiency due to insufficient nutrients.

This could be demonstrated with a simple molybdenum blood test, and when it was finally run, the results did indeed show molybdenum deficiency.

And so my recovery began.

I started some nutritional supplements and saw a steady improvement in my symptoms.

However, I had a set-back with a pancreatitic/gall bladder attack.

Then I began to see an M.D. with holistic training.
